Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105
The sixth grader's day begins with Religion class. There is no better way to start the day than in God's Word. Every day begins with devotions. This always includes readings from the Bible and prayer, but can also include singing, a responsive litany, and finding ways to reach out to others. Our daily studies center around the book Voyages. This workbook allows students to explore God's Word and respond to His Word in a personal way. The lessons begin with an overview of the Bible, but the bulk of what we read and discuss is about Jesus and His ministry here on earth. Memory is a weekly responsibility for sixth graders. Generally, the testing of memory work will happen on Fridays, but when our schedule calls for a short week, testing could happen on another day. Every student is required to have his/her own Bible and to bring it to class each and every day. The NIV translation will be needed. A great Bible for middle school students to own is Faith Alive. It is a student Bible published by Concordia Publishing House. If you would like to own this Bible, just stop by the church office and it can be ordered for you.
